Personality

Positive Trait:
Compassionate: Despite all the tragedy that finds it's way to Relena through the death of her adoptive father and the eventual loss of her kingdom, her compassion for the people around her never wavers. This very compassion for the people around her has driven Relena to accept the people around her regardless of whether or not they agree with her ideologies or beliefs. It is what has driven her unique friendships with most of the gundam pilots and her interest in Heero Yuy. When she first met him, she saw someone who wasn't a soldier or a killer, she saw someone who was lost and looking for his purpose. That may have sparked her interests in him, but, it's also driven her to become allies with the other pilots as well.

On various occasions, Relena has used her political influence and power to harbor soldiers such as the pilots or even the Trieze faction that splintered off of OZ within her own kingdom. She's done this because while she's against fighting and would rather open dialogue to convince the opposing side to come to a peaceful solution, even she is aware that sometimes that may not be possible. Regardless, Relena does try to use her influence to try and negate the potential loss of life. This becomes very apparent when Romefeller forces her into becoming the figurehead 'Queen of the World' in order to save her kingdom from total ruin.

Because she was given this political power, she uses it to appeal to the members of Romefeller to give her views of pacifism and disarmament a chance to spare the loss of more lives in the rebellion between the Space Colonies and the Earth Sphere. She might have succeeded if it weren't for an attempt on her life and Treize Kushrenada reappearing to take political power from her.

Even after that, Relena never gives up on the people around her, even going as far as forgiving Une for killing her adoptive father when an opportunity to kill her was presented.

Negative Trait:
Obstinate: While Relena can be very compassionate and kind, there's another part that also drives her. It's her pure stubbornness to never give up. While some might view this as a positive trait, it is also very much a negative one as well, especially for Relena. Because she can be so obstinate when she sets her mind to something, it can sometimes lead her head long into trouble or situations where she has been put in harms way more than once.

On one of these many occasions, it has lead her to hunt down the gundam pilots, especially Heero Yuy and on more than one occasion, nearly gotten her killed if it weren't for Heero's interference. On one of these occasions, learned that Heero was in Antarctica, ready to fight Zech Merquise. She flew into battle, wanting to convince Heero that his life was worth living, regardless of whether or not she might make it out alive.

On another occasion, Relena actually chases after Heero when he fleas because she wants to know more about him, only to have him rescue her from attacking OZ mobile suits.

Even after she learns of her heritage, Relena's stubborn nature leads her to fully embrace her family's beliefs in total pacifism and disarmament to the point where she won't defend herself even if a gun is aimed at her which, happens numerous times. Either from Heero attempting and failing to assassinate her to her staring down a gun aimed at her by Dekim Barton when he blames her for his defeat. It has also lead her to do some very impulsive things, such as running off to space and attempting to talk her brother out of dropping a battleship on Earth. She ultimately fails to convince him but, she also refuses to give up trying to prevent it happening by supporting the gundam pilots when they come to stop it.

Negative Trait:
Idealistic: Once she learns of the Pacifistic beliefs of her birth family, she decides to adhere to the idealistic belief that peace can attained through disarmament and peaceful mediation. It's this belief that initially had her small country lacking an army to defend it. It's only the insistent and work of Noin and the pilots that Relena has any defense for her nation.

Even then, she doesn't want to use the resources given to her to cause the loss of more life. She even opens a school for the children of politicians, hoping that her spreading the teachings of pacifism to others her age might bring about a peaceful future. This belief is also what lead her to accept Dorothy Catalonia into her school, despite her ties to Romefeller and her beliefs on war.

It's also this same idealism that Relena uses when she gives a speech to the members of Romefeller during her coronation speech, hoping to persuade them to her views in hopes of ending the conflicts between the Earth and the Colonies. She might have even succeeded if it weren't for Milliardo's radical White Fangs announcing their intent on attacking the Earth.

Because of her idealistic beliefs, Relena has also become a major target for assassinations when organizations like Oz and Romefeller view her stances on disarmament and peace to be dangerous because to embrace those, would mean they can no longer profiteer off the colonies and building their war machines. And even later on, it's lead to her being kidnapped by Mariemaia's Army under the control of Dekim Barton. Her beliefs and political influence were meant to be used to persuade the people to their side, instead Relena used it to empower the people to stand up for themselves.

Negative Trait:
Emotional: By the end of the series, Relena is a more calm and collected young woman that was forced to grow up too quickly over the course of one year. That isn't to say she doesn't still have emotional outbursts on occasion. There are times where her anger gets the best of her, leading her to doing something as brash as hunting down Colonel Une in an attempt to shoot her in revenge for the death of her adoptive father. Relena was stopped from doing so, but, she held a grudge against Une for a fair amount of the series before finally forgiving her towards the end.

Emotionally, she's also become invested in the gundam pilots. While she might not fully agree with how they are going about bringing peace, she does become friends with most of them and highly interested in Heero Yuy. She spends time obsessively trying to track him down or trying to find information on his whereabouts at various points during the series. This desire has driven her to challenge him to kill her just so she can see him again, which, probably isn't the smartest move considering how many times in the series he does come close to shooting her.

And because her emotions can sometimes get the best of her, it makes moments when she confronts someone with opposite views of hers a little more challenging. Especially when one of those people happens to be her own brother. Relena wanted to save him from what he was about to do as the leader of White Fang and tried to talk him down from dropping Libra on the planet.

Over all, Relena's positive and negative traits are pretty much double edged swords for her that can both be used for her benefit or to hinder her depending on what situation she tends to find herself in and how she goes about handling it. While her compassion can lead to her desire to help others and promote peace, it can also combine with her idealistic beliefs and stubbornness to make her a force to be reckoned with politically. However, it also hinders her due to her refusal to take up arms and fight, leaving her to be only a persuasive voice that's offering another path towards peace outside of the fighting.

Powers and Abilities:
Relena is human, so she doesn't have any otherworldly or supernatural powers. However, she is very intuitive and observant, especially when it comes to figuring things out. She was able to deduce why she had been kidnapped by Mariemaia's people with only a few clues to figure out they wanted her for her influence over people.

She is also a natural speaker, able to convey her thoughts and feelings to her audience when she gives a speech or appeals to the other participants in a political debate or negotiation. Because of her way of getting her point across, she tends to wield a lot of influence both politically and over the opinions of the people.

And despite her beliefs in pacifism, she has had some weapons training at some point in her life, allowing her to wield a gun effectively IF she ever needed to. Though, she would rather choose to settle things through open dialogue given the choice.

Inventory: Nothing but the clothes she's wearing.

Settling in
[Eventually Relena makes it to the Submissive housing in the Down and once she enters, she closes the door behind her and lets out a sigh as she leans back against it.

This...She's still trying to wrap her head around everything. One moment, she's being brought out of cryosleep and now she's in a city that...

She lets her head fall back against the door and nearly allows herself to slide down it to the floor before she catches herself. So much... She wasn't supposed to be woken up! What about the virus?

Well, she supposed that didn't matter here. Neither did her reputation or accomplishments and that made her feel both uneasy and excited all at once. This was a place where she wasn't being kept up to such high standards or expected to be..be a paragon of Peace. Here, Relena wondered if she would get a chance to simply be herself.

Maybe, though she felt like this society was going to test her limits on patience and understanding. The way the treat submissives remind her a lot of how things were like before the war between Earth and the Colonies. Only, perhaps not so severe. If they could find middle ground and understanding, maybe this place could to?

Maybe all they needed was a voice to speak up. Maybe. Relena wasn't sure if even her voice might change things, but, would it hurt to try?]

Network Post
[When the video pops on, a young woman in a plain white dress with honey-blonde hair and blue-green eyes can be seen sitting on a bed in the submissive housing. She looks composed, even if there might be a hint of uneasiness in her eyes.]

I know I'm new here, but, I have a request to make of the dominants of the city. Normally, I wouldn't ask for anything but seeing as submissives cannot buy their own things without permission, I was hoping someone might accompany me on a small shopping trip?

At the very least for a few shirts and pants. I don't think the white dress I arrived in will be suitable for every day wear.

[She looks a little apologetic for even having to ask.]

I'm really sorry to have to ask. If you want payment in return, I'm sure we can figure something out.
